WORLD X RECIPE | GLOBAL GAME JAM 2025
Hello world! We're BYTE.bak! We're very excited to share that we made a game in just 48 hours for #GlobalGameJam2025. It is called World X Recipe!
Ever seen those cute desserts in cookbooks and felt inspired to make them? But what if you’re an alien and space doesn’t have the ingredients you need? —You’d have to abduct them (using this year's theme, bubbles!), of course!
Dive into the arcade-inspired chaos of World X Recipe! Play as an alien visiting Earth on a mission to collect ingredients and bake the perfect cake. With an exciting arcade-style gameplay and a fully functional scoreboard, you can compete for the top spot. Got a high score? Don’t forget to enter your name and show off on the leaderboard—it means your alien got to enjoy a LOT of cake!
This was actually my first-ever game jam, and I had the honor of serving as Lead Artist for this project. I was responsible for shaping the visual identity of the game and bringing our ideas to life. From managing and guiding the artists to ensuring the art quality aligned with our vision—including 3D modeling and in-engine implementation—it was quite a lot to juggle. Oh, and did I mention the source control broke during the most hectic hour? That definitely kept my head spinning!
I want to especially thank every artist involved in this game. I could always rely on them and trust that the quality of their work would be amazing. You guys really helped bring this vision to life.
Still, moments like these remind me why I love game development so much. Working in-person at DigiPen Institute of Technology Seattle Indies Jam Site with this talented team was an absolute highlight. Every interaction with different disciplines made a real impact on the game pipeline, and seeing it all come together ignited a fire in me. It made me feel alive!
